You know we love trying new things here at The Hashtag. We love learning, and we love sharing new skills and information. The Hashtag is a place where that already happens naturally: when a bunch of innovators, entrepreneurs, creatives, and other geniuses are all gathered in the same place, they’re bound to learn something from each other. We want to take that idea of an ongoing, fun, collaborative education and make it more official.
So we’re introducing Hashtag Academy, a way for Hashtag members (and anyone else who’s motivated to improve themselves and our community) to learn practical skills from experts in their fields.
Our pilot course is Introduction to Web Programming, taught by our very own fearless leader, Irma Olguin, Jr. The Saturday classes (4 weeks, starting in July) will cover the fundamentals of web development from the ground up. This course is designed for those with no coding experience, so if you’re a seasoned developer you’ll probably already know most of it (although a refresher on best practices never hurts). But if you’re thinking about getting started in the web programming game—or even if you’re just a curious cat who wants to better understand the key technology of our time—this course is for you. Designers, entrepreneurs, and creators of all kinds will benefit from this handy and fun intro. Learn more by visiting hashtagacademy.com.
The course is open to everyone, even non-members, on a first come, first served basis. In order to do these courses right, there is a fee to attend (significantly discounted for Hashtag members, because we love you). If all goes well with this pilot program, additional courses will follow on a range of relevant topics—business, gaming, tech, breakdancing (who knows?).
